KYTK - If you're anything like the majority of Americans, you're probably still recovering from Super Bowl Sunday celebrations. And chances are, if you celebrated big, you were surrounded by lots of not-so-good-for-you foods!
We eat out of excitement, stress, happiness, sadness, and all the emotions that go along with rooting for your team. But all that unconscious eating can leave us derailed from those new years promises to lose weight.
Trinity mother Francis dietitian Chelsea Bubel reminds her patients to bring their own healthy snacks when going to social events where they will be tempted. Bubel said fruits and vegetables are great options because they're low on calories and nutrient dense. Lean proteins can also help you feel fuller longer and give you lasting energy throughout the day.
"All you really have to do is really reestablish what your goals were January 1st," said Bubel. "Whether it be increasing vegetable intake or physical activity, just reestablish that goal, kind of re-center yourself, and refocus."
Bubel reminds her patients that the Center for Disease Control recommends at least 150 minutes of physical activity a week, which can also help you rev up your metabolism and jump start your diet plans.
